Status of segments and filtering

Every segment has a status associated with it. The status of a segment essentially contains two information in it:

  1. How the translation was obtained
  2. Whether the segment is Confirmed or not i.e. are the post-editing changes made saved or not

Translation for a segment in the Transeditor can be obtained by any of the following three ways:

  1. From translation memories (TM)
  2. Machine translation (MT)
  3. Manual translation

Based on these three modes of translation, there are 6 possible segment statuses, which are,

  1. TM Unconfirmed
  2. TM Confirmed
  3. MT Unconfirmed
  4. MT Confirmed
  5. Manual Unconfirmed
  6. Manual Confirmed

There are two additional segment statuses, which are,

  1. Unopened – When a segment is undisturbed or not yet clicked and opened for post-editing
  2. Copied from the source – Using the “Copy icon” feature in toolbar, when source content is copied to target segment without translation

Segment statuses are especially helpful when working with files having a large number of segments.

You can filter segments in a file based on the status.

To do so, click “Filter dropdown” found at the right corner of toolbar

As not confirming a segment will not save the changes in the output file, hence when working with large files, it is also a good practice to check for any unconfirmed segments before proceeding to download the output file using the segment filter.
