Transeditor is equipped with a number of feature and tools to assist the process of translation-editing your file
Listed below are the features provided at the toolbar of Transeditor
- “Copy source to target icon” – Copy source content to target without translation
This is helpful when a source segment contains untranslatable content like only numbers, names, etc. In such cases, it is required to copy the source to target as it is without any translation
2. “Erase target segment icon” – Erase target segment
Used to clear a target segment. Once cleared, you can freshly apply MT again and edit it
3. “Font size icon” – Set font sizes
Set font sizes for source and target languages. This is especially useful when dealing with language pairs having different scripts (e.g. English -> Tamil, German -> Chinese)
4. “Find and replace icon” – Find and Replace
A Find can be performed with additional conditions such as match case and exact words. But a replacement can be done only in target segments. You can also replace and confirm the segment in a single step by checking Confirm and Replace
5. “Concordance search icon” – Concordance search
Select a term or text in the source segment and click “Concordance search icon”
This fetches the concordance search results from uploaded translation memories and displays under Concordance search tab in footer section
6. “Dictionaries and References icon” – Dictionaries and References
To get meanings and references for a selected term (either from source or target segment) from Wikipedia and Wiktionary.
Select a particular term/phrase and click on the Dictionary icon, meanings and references along with hyperlinks (if available) will be displayed under the Dictionary tab in footer section
7. “Special symbols icon” – Special symbols
Displays a widget with Special characters. Upon clicking, special characters will be inserted at the cursor point in target segment
8. “Spell checker icon” – Spell checker
Depending on the language pair of the document at the Transeditor, only if a Spellchecker is available for the target language, Spellcheck icon will be displayed at the toolbar.
Spell Checker feature underlines a misspelt word and displays suggestions when hovered over.
Spell Checker feature can be turned on and off anytime by clicking on it
9. “Transliteration typing” – Transliteration typing
Depending on the target language, you can input a translation in the target language by typing in English. This feature transliterates the input in English into the target language. IME can be toggled ON/OFF by clicking on this icon
10. “Segment filter dropdown” – Segment filter
Depending on the actions performed at a target segment, a status is always assigned to a target segment. You can filter segments by selecting the required segment statuses.
