Projects, jobs and tasks

To make your translation effort easier and effective, Ailaysa organises it in the form of projects, job and tasks

Project

A project is the single complete component of a translation process. All files, languages, human editors, deadlines etc  involved in the translation process are organised efficiently into a single thing called a project.

A project can have only one source language, but one or more target languages. The language in which your original content is present is referred to as the source language, and the languages into which you want to translate are referred to as the target languages.

Remember, if your translation requirement has multiple source languages, you must create a separate project for each source language.

Job

Each unique language pair (source language – target language) in a project is referred to as a job.

For example, let us assume a project has English as the source language and Spanish and German as target languages.

Now you have two jobs:

English -> Spanish,
English -> German,

Task

The source content for translation is available in the project as files. Even the plain text you add in the text area is stored as a text file. A project can have one or more files uploaded for translation. In advanced projects, the files can be accessed through an integration.

A task is a unique combination of a file and a job

In the above mentioned example, you have English as the source language and Spanish and German as the target languages. During project setup, let us assume you have uploaded two files viz., intro.docx and details.xlsx

There are two jobs, English-German and English-Spanish, and two files. Now you have four tasks:

intro.docx – English-German
details.xlsx – English-German
intro.docx – English-Spanish
details.xlsx – English-Spanish

Tasks are created automatically based on the languages and files added during project setup
